Simple Radio
I do like this radio because I have personally wanted one for years, and it is very easy to use. All you have to do is connect an antenna to the terminal, turn it on, and you're in business. The audio quality on the PRN-1000 is decent for the radios' age, and tuning in stations are a breeze. It does have a slight issue with receive overload though (due to nearby local AM station(s), and you can't do much about that due to the absence of an RF gain control. It also would have been a much better radio if it had SSB, and a signal-strength meter. All that aside, it is a great, simple radio for anyone, whether you're new to shortwave, or have been listening for years, and would like an affordable backup receiver.
