    Excellent quality, works great.
Just what I needed to convert the tyre valve.

    Needed a Macro/Micro Lens
Pros: Great close focusing without the expense of buying the 105mm VR. As usual, both a great close up lens and portrait lens alike. An absolute dream on my D700. Cons: VR would be good, but not a show stopper in any event.

    Better than a Bigma!
It's more expensive and more discreet than the Sigma 120-400mm 4.5-5.6 OS, and it's also a lot lighter and more compact, nearly half a Kg lighter. Also, it's 80mm at widest. I've owned both lenses and although the Sigma is a fine lens, the Nikon although older, is the winner. It doesn't focus that quickly being a non AF-S lens and can struggle at high contrasts. The Vibration Reduction is excellent. I tend to use this lens as my wildlife and birds in flight lens and usually switch to manual settings when subjects are moving. On a DX sensor camera it is 120-600mm and also works very well with the Kenko x1.4 300 PRO DG lens converter, providing the lights available. Being in production for a long time it lacks the technology of recent lenses, but as Nikons next offering is the 200-400mm then it's excellent value.
