It is the result of recent trend of "big data", "cloud service" all over again!
It is the result of recent trend of "big data", "cloud service" all over again! It is what happened when selling a hardware but trying too hard to sell software/service that impaired the function usage of the hardware.
The hardware is excellent, but top managers of the company want to earn more money from customers by selling cloud service monthly. If you are not unwilling to give up monthly money and privacy to allow your WiFi router login password, your front yard's video (or any image the cam is taking) to be known in a cloud site which we should consider as a public server in security-point-of-view, you will be out of luck to record video images locally triggered by motion detection.
Missing the function of recording video locally which is triggered by motion detection make this whole product only functioned like a motion triggered flush light because the video portion of the function is not be useful if a house is small and you can just peek and see the video area.
Customer expectation of this product is: The product has the function of a car cam to record security images locally (into the tablet's SD. e.g) triggered by motion detections. Like car cam record, it cuts and stores highly compressed video files in reasonable small sizes and can automatically delete the oldest recorded files when storage capacity quota is reached. Record video by motion detection only. Video data is better transmitted from the security light directly to the tablet without needing to relay data by a WiFi gateway. Because none of these expectations are realized by the current version of "Notify" mobile app. Customer will surely disappointed.
