Great device overall
Recently I have been doing a lot of digital art. My job provided me with a first gen iPad Pro and a friend gave me their old Apple Pencil and I fell in love. But increasingly I became uncomfortable that my work was on a device I didn't own. So, I took the dive and got my own. I couldn't be happier about this purchase. I don't typically care for Apple products, I don't care for the company and I think their devices don't offer a lot for the price. But when it comes to the iPad Pro I had to force myself to do a complete 180 on this particular product. It's amazing.
I have some complaints, I was hoping the higher RAM of the 1TB model would be usable by the apps, but it's not, which is a waste. I'm glad they switched to the USB-C standard BUT I'm somewhat disappointed the device doesn't charge any faster than my work iPad and the battery life is the same.

It's Considered the Best Rower for a Reason
2 of 3 found this helpful This item is considered a gold standard for a reason when it comes to rowing machine.
I couldn't suggest it more. The construction is sturdy. It separates in the center (seat slide and row bar sections) for easy storage. I don't have high ceilings, that 96" is too long to just stand it up. Ultimately, it takes up slighty more floor space than a kitchen chair when storing it this way. The PM5 connects perfectly to my phone without issue and the ErgData app is great for tracking your progress. You can also use the a UBS drive to do the same tracking and with this there is no chance you accidentally leave it in the Rower at the gym.
The question of whether it's a good value is highly subjective though. This is hands down the single most expensive piece of fitness equipment I have ever purchased. But this is one of the best forms of exercise you can get, so for me it's worth it. But if you aren't sure you like rowing or looking for something new you haven't tried, it may be financially prudent to buy a cheap rower to start. I'm not personally a fan of spending a lot of money on something and having it become a clothing rack that sits in the corner. But if you know you will commit to using this rower on a regular basis, it's easy money to spend.
I got into rowing maybe in the middle of 2019. It's physically demanding, it's easily trackable with this machine so you can see your progress in your distance or strokes per minute metrics, and it's basically no impact on your joints. But then came Covid19 and the gyms shut down for a good portion of the year. During the summer I walked every day and hiked quite a bit on weekend, but since winter has come my ability to stay fit has been greatly diminished. I tried using a rowing machine in the gym but the requirement to wear a mask really hurts it as exercise. Within a few minutes you are gulping for air as the mask completely obstructs your airway when doing anything that makes you breath heavy. So, I took the plunge, and after my first day of using my own Concept2 Rower, I knew I made the right decision. If you could buy it from the manufacturer you would probably save yourself about a third of the cost, but that isn't remotely an option now.
I couldn't suggest it more so long as you actually commit to this form of exercise.

Good Product at a Fair Price
I used to own a set of the 552s years ago. Then I abandoned the home workout thing and started going to the gym. Now the story is changed and become all too familiar. I tried to hold out for them become available through the actual website, but a year of waiting and working with annoying cheap dumbbells with twist on caps, I had enough. I climb and was hoping that would be enough to get stronger still, I am a very large man, but I think at best you can maintain your strength through something like that. These are great, just like the set of 552s I used to own. They are bigger than I thought they would be, but that is a me problem, I don't know why I expected them to be smaller.
The downside to not being able to get it from Nautilus is that you pay a premium for them on a place like Ebay. They were not cheap, and really ran you about $400 more than you can expect to pay from the manufacturer. The other thing is they don't quite slide into place as easy as the set of 552s used to, but I am also putting some blame to placement of them. Due to our current limited space I have them on the floor. When we get a bigger place I'll get the stand which I think will help.
That said, I am happy with them. They are a great product, and even at the cost they really save you a bundle if you want have between 10 and 90lbs in 5lbs increments. A set of 90lbs alone would probably run you between $200 and $250, plus the cost of shipping.
