Better than foreign made and the LED variety
American made video / film production light stands up to more expensive German made. Furthermore don't buy all the hype about the high cost LED fresnells and other LED production lights. Often LED controllers fail and the total foot-candles don't approach their rating. Halogen bulbs use more electricity to operate, but considering the relatively few hours used in production, their simplicity and reliability, make them superior in my view.

Canon ES 8100V Hi-8 mm camcorder, Hi 8 mm analog.
1 of 1 found this helpful Well, there's the saying...thin digital may be in but analog fat is where it's at. Everyone is jumping for digital, yet lens quality, color rendition, cost of tape (media), features, all come into play. This little camera has better features than many newer ones. Great external audio input. Great optical zoom lens with steady shot. Originate in analog, then convert to digital for editing...or edit analog with inexpensive tape players. You then have an original back-up if the digital stream goes sour. Outboard codecs like Plextor's ConverteX PX-M402U the digital transition make possible if you even need to go digital. Many folks are still playing back VHS or 8mm tapes and will continue to do so for years to come.
I've had 4 of these cameras...one stolen, one fell and broke, and I keep a back up now. When traveling the last thing I want to worry about is an expensive camera. It was a relief to know I only paid $150 (listed $1000 new) when the camera got stolen, then the second one when it fell. It's the results from your shooting that count...and Hi 8 and SVHS continue to work for me!
