AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ socket AM2 CPU ADV6000IAA5DO 3.1 GHz 1MB L2 Brisbane 89W

Great upgrade

I was upgrading from a AMD Athlon 64 2650e. I hated that processor. This one gave me a decent performance boost. It did have a slightly bent pin when it arrived but that was easy enough to fix. The weird part was it wouldn't fall into the socket even though it was definitely an am2 socket. I had to start it at the corner and apply a small amount of pressure, then once it was in pulled it out to make sure i didn't damage any pins, put it back in with same process. Works fine. Downside is the stock cpu heatsink in the pc I don't think is rated for the TDP of this processor. I keep idling anywhere between 140-170(F) at 3.1 ghz, so i let it throttle itself down to 1.6 unless it needs the boost. If anyone is curious to know compatibility I installed this on an old eMachine EL1200-06w. Very happy with this upgrade. Using the machine as a basic routing server among other things.
