Great upgrade for MK6 Golf, wiring was a little bit of a pain for my application
Overall, these technically are a drop-in replacement for non-HID MK6 Golfs. I installed these with some high-power LED bulbs and the brightness and visibility is amazing. My only complaint is that with the lowbeams they are aimed a little too low, even with the adjustment screw turned to point them up as much as possible - I found the only solution is to unscrew the mounting screws and push the lamp housing back while tightening the screws such that the whole housing points more upwards.
The biggest issue I've run into with these lights (that most other people have also seemed to find) is that the U-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) don't exactly work right out of the box. Included with the lights is an adapter pigtail that wires the parking lights to the U-lights, which enables the lights when the low and highbeams are lit, but not as DRLs. To get them working as DRLs, I had to repin the connector on the car slightly to move pin 4 to position 1. This enabled the U-lights to work as DRLs, but now would not stay on with the low and highbeams. In order to get them to stay on, I then had to do some coding with VCDS to change Byte 18 to "Golf GTI NAR". This change overall got them functioning how they should, but then I ran into another issue: I could not get the DRLs to turn off with the turn signal (as most modern cars with LED DRLs do). It seemed that this was a side-effect of the coding change, so at this point I was stuck between having the U-lights on all the time, or only on when in DRL mode. To alleviate this, I had to get fancy with my wiring - I made an adapter harness for the headlight connectors that used diode-isolation to wire both the DRL signal and Parking Light signal to control the U-lights. This completed the functionality, but now occasionally/randomly I get a "DRL bulb circuit error" code and bulb-warning (likely when doing the bulb checks it doesn't like that more than 1 signal can control the bulb, so if it's sensing voltage and there is voltage where it shouldn't or visa-versa, it's throwing the code). Given that it's random and doesn't happen often, it's something I can live with to get things working properly. That all being said, if you don't plan on using DRLs with your setup, then you can just use the adapter harness that comes with the lights and they should work perfectly for you.
The only other thing I'll add is that in my pursuit of making this diode-isolating adapter harness, I reached out to VLAND Official to ask for the pinout of the connector on the headlamp housing, and their responses have been almost entirely worthless so far. Despite providing pictures and detailed descriptions of exactly what I'm looking for (a pinout or diagram of the light connector), they seem to think I'm asking for other parts ranging from accessories to housings (which they say they do not sell), and have tried to redirect me to the product page for the lights several times. Moral of the story: I wouldn't expect much help from VLAND support.
In summary: these are overall a great upgrade, both functionally and stylistically, and despite my wiring troubles (which most people probably wouldn't even care about), I would still recommend these to anyone looking for an aftermarket lighting upgrade for their MK6 Golf.

Perfect for DIY Shimming
I purchased this kit to re-shim a rebuilt T56 that the rebuilder apparently didn't shim right the first time. For my one-off need, this kit was perfect and the best value for a DIYer like me.
