Tight assembly - but it works without modification
As others have commented, the fit to the bracket is quite tight. I placed this part on a flat surface and was able to use enough force to install bracket without braking anything. I then installed the entire assembly to the GPS unit. Hopefully it will loosen up enough to remove the bracket from the holder instead of removing the entire assembly from the GPS. YRMV.
