Mackie fell short on the battery/power connections
From a professional standpoint, there are 2 major design flaws with the M48:
The first is that it doesn't accept input over a wider range of DC voltages. Many of us have distributed DC power available form V-Mount or Gold-Mount batteries, whose nominal voltage is 14.2V. The M48 accepts only 9V externally.
The second flaw is that the internal connector for the 9V Alkaline battery is one of those flimsy, breaks-easily, 9V connectors that you find in cheap radios or toys. Easily implementable, more robust 9V connections exist (Lectrosonics, Shure etc.). Having a rock-solid connection to the interchangeable battery, would have moved the M48 from "so-so" to "got to have".

Good quality cable
At this price I was expecting a lower grade, stiffer cable. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and flexibility of the cable. I cannot hear any noise, even when the cable is lying parallel to a 110V AC line.

Works like a charm
For whatever reason Deity are currently back-ordered on their DA5S microdot to TA5F 5-pin adapters. I was hesitant to order this adapter as I know it's not straight-forward to wire the W-Lav Pro mic to a Lectro SMD bodypack (Deity found that out with their earlier DA5 adapter).
I was very pleasantly surprised by the build quality and smooth fit of the microdot adapter into my SMD bodypacks. There was no electrical noise generated when the W-Lav Pro was connected - it was really quiet, on par with the COS 11D's.
Can't beat this microdot adapter for the money.
