We will have to wait and see
The 10 year battery life claim is very bold. The previous one didn't last anything like that. If this one falls short I will not buy another one from the same company. And that is why the title of the review has been chosen.
The product works, looks good, and fitted on the same backing plate as the previous one. So fitting was very easy.
Smoke detectors are cheap and essential. If in doubt, buy more.

Safety First
2 of 2 found this helpful This is an excellent stair gate. The metal gate is strong, and adjustable. The wall fasteners are good. These are very secure.
We got this one to use at the top of the stairs to keep our grand-daughter safe when she is with us. I didn't want a gate with compression fittings - because I don't trust. That is why I chose this gate - you have to drill holes to fit the hinges and the fasteners.
When our wilful grand-daughter wants to go down stairs, she stands at the gate pulling it and pushing it with some energy. And it is perfectly safe.
I see those other gates with no holes drilled, and held in place with pressure from the frame. I don't want to rely on that. I am sure they will loosen with time. Whereas this gate is in place forever. And that is good because we are expecting a second grand-child soon.
If you put safety first, then this gate makes a lot of sense. I recommend it.

USB-C USB Stick - Slim is in
This is a USB-C stick. The USB-C connector is exactly what I wanted. You can plug it into your phone and your recently bought laptop.
Because this is a USB-C-only device, they have made the body slimmer than they could if they still had the older style USB. And that is one of the things I like about it.
Periodically, I transfer photos and movie clips off of my phone and onto my laptop. I use this USB stick for that purpose - and by leaving them on the stick, I am generating a back-up copy.
This USB-C stick is lovely to look at, works well, and is not weighed down by the bigger, older USB connector. If your devices have USB-C connectors, then this is the USB stick for you - recommended.
