Excellent, with a few minor caveats
2 of 2 found this helpful The camera is fantastic. It shoots excellent photos and decent quality video. However, it lacks many of the features introduced in the next iteration (Hero 3+) which limit its usefulness in some situations. In anything above 1080p it is fixed as a wide-angle shot, the ProTune software lacks the profiles for color correction (which must therefore be done manually), and it doesn't have a viewscreen. However the trade-off is significant - the Hero 3 Black has arguably the best built-in mic of any in the Hero series, it has better battery life than newer models, and it allows users to easily connect an external microphone for even better sound quality. Overall this was an absolute bargain and a completely worthwhile purchase.
