Best mid sized generator I've ever owned
Great little generator. Quieter than I expected. I had a Champion propane generator before this with the same decibel rating and this unit is noticeably quieter. The Champion generator struggled to run well on propane. The battery start on this unit is awesome. Even with its first start, it cranked up and ran in about 3 seconds. The propane hose is far superior than the standard BBQ grill hose that came with the Champion unit, it is longer and has a larger diameter passage for the propane. Setup was easy. The propane hose and a nice oil filling funnel/hose are buried inside the unit for transportation. I didn't see anything in the instructions about the oil funnel.
The unit does not come with the required 20 ounces of oil, so go get some synthetic 10W30 before it arrives. I added an hours meter that connects to the spark plug so I can know when to change the oil.
I bought two of these, one for my home and one for my cabin. I do not plan to use gasoline in either of them, ever, as gasoline is so hard on carburetors. I plumbed the one at my cabin to run off my 120 gallon pig. I included a picture of the MEC connector used to make the switch from the copper line to the quick connect. It is invaluable. Just a note, the regulator in this picture is not the good one that comes with the unit, it's the crappy standard BBQ one that comes with the Champion unit.
The guy from the propane company recommended Duromax generators for connecting to a propane pig. I can see why. He has the 13,000 watt unit at his house. I can run everything at my cabin on 3,500 watts.
It comes with the male and female 120/240 plugs so you can build your own extension cord to whatever length and gauge you want.
