Long live Studebaker audio!
I simply adore my Studebaker phonograph. Brings back many memories of childhood when my dad would crank up his olde record player and spin for me forbidden jazz from the 1930s. If you have yet to see Swing Kids check it out at your local library.

Race Matters Still Relevant
Cornel West's groundbreaking work Race Matters is just as important today as when it was first introduced to the public in the early 1990s. Reading it afresh one is struck by how much hard work needs yet to be done in terms of both black progress on so many important levels and racial understanding in general. Many fine insights! These are scary times and we desperately need more voices to raise the alarm and cause attention to those of varied backgrounds facing oppression and prejudice on a daily basis.

God, Freud & Religion
This is complex and heady stuff to keep you up late at night wondering about religious upbringing and crisis of faith. Would make a good corrolary philosophy of religion textbook alongside more traditional approaches. This work helps us to achieve a level of objectivity concerning religious experience a sort of science of religion. Of course, fundamentalists of various stripes might find some of the contents objectionable but the life of the mind is a journey.
