A must have for the singer/song writer/home studio owner.
1 of 1 found this helpful While this isn't by any means the best mic in the world, it sure does have a lot of bang for the buck. It works with several sources, including but not limited to male vocals, drum overheads, acoustic, room mic for drums/electric guitar, etc. I wouldn't however (as a general rule, but there are no rules in recording) recommend it for female vocals, at least without the liberal use of a de-esser.
I just bought my second one to use as a matched pair for drum overheads, or stereo pair for tracking acoustic, and am thrilled. Pair this mic up with a decent external preamp, and you're golden.

Not quite as advertised
0 of 1 found this helpful I bought this direct box specifically as a cheap alternative for reamping guitars in my studio. Running signal into the 1/4" input and out through the XLR sounds okay (just a slight low end roll off, nothing extremely noticeable), but running signal into the XLR jack and out the 1/4" jack sounds awful.
Measuring the signal on a RTA, there was nothing being reproduced below 400 Hz. My only reason for not sending it back is because it sounds fine converting unbalanced to balanced signals, and return shipping would probably be as much as the box itself cost.
All in all not a bad box for the money, but not quite as advertised.

Sound is terrible
I bought these to use in a pair of homemade isolation headphones for tracking drums in my studio. Practically nothing below 400 Hz is reproduced with these drivers. Though they do get fairly loud in the headphones, they are very harsh sounding as well.
I would not recommend these drivers, unless you want them for a specific effect.
