The best type of food for quick energy when running, hiking, shoveling snow, etc.
This type of bar is just what it says, an "energy bar..." which I use after a few miles of hiking/shoveling etc to replenish the blood sugar. This was suggested by a marathon runner discussing what is the best source of energy for endurance type activities..."the original Power Bar is good, not the newer ones..." This is because the main ingredient in the Power Bar is sugar, while the newer Power Bar is more protein.
The rationale behind this the brain needs sugar to function and if the brain runs out sugar, the brain will "tell" the body to stop.. A normal person has 45 minutes of sugar in the blood stream and then the muscle function can then utilize fat burning for energy. By adding a small amount of sugar, the brains "says' OK, keep going" and muscle continues by burning fat...

Great glove liners
I discovered these glove liners when I feeding cows in a blizzard in 1978. For some unknown reason they became unavailable in farm supply stores. It dawned on me to search ebay and found these. They work great under another pair of gloves. I can use keys or repair stuff without freezing the ends of my fingers. I am glad I found these, as I had a few pairs of them that are getting full of holes.
They also could be used as dress gloves (until they get some grease and such on them).

new generation pack frame
This is the same design as the Alaska trapper type wood backpack frame recommended by now defunct Herter's Mail Order in Waseca, MN...except this is made of modern materials. I attempted to build one of them and failed. I took the 6 of the 70's era design of backpacks I had collected and donated them to the Girl Scouts.
