AOYUE Int8800 Desoldering Station Pump - Hand Held Type
    May 24, 2016
    The best
I've used various desoldering machines like this, and this is the best so far. Build quality is excellent throughout, and it is very comfortable to handle and use. The vacuum pump has a very quick startup and is easily powerful enough. The heating element is powerful enough to desolder a continuous sequence of reasonably bulky joints without pauses for it to warm up again. Basically, it's a great tool and I don't think you'll find anything better of this type. HOWEVER - you should be aware that all desoldering machines of this type are prone to getting blocked up (my 30-year-old Weller DS801 is terrible for it) and this is no different. Be prepared to spend time fiddling with the provided drill and bits of wire to clear out the nozzle every so often. Like the cheaper "copies" on ebay, the solder is caught in a metal spring (you can see it inside the glass cartridge), and it can be fiddly to remove the slug of solder from inside it. As I say, these shortcomings are common to all the desoldering machines like this that I've used, so don't really count against this particular one. In summary: this is a good quality tool and I highly recommend it - you won't find better at anything near this price.
Windscreen Givi Kawasaki Versys 650 06-09 transparent Touring-screen

    Too much turbulence
As usual with Givi products, this is of good quality and fits well. But there is one big problem: for me it caused lots of turbulence around my helmet. This greatly increased the wind noise in my ears and caused unpleasant random vibrations to my head which I found disturbing. After a week I took it off and now it lives in the back of my shed, unused.

Good value for money, but watch those batteries!
Picture quality is fine for a camera in this price range, and it has a good range of features. Remember: these camcorders are cheap, so don't expect too much, but the value for money is good. BUT - and this is a big 'but' - the battery life is absolutely hopeless. It uses three AAA cells, which are too small for the job. I fitted a set of brand new Duracells, and they were exhausted after LESS THAN TEN MINUTES of filming. If you let them recover for a while, you get another few minutes, but basically it absolutely hammers the batteries. I got through three sets of three in about half an hour of playing around. And Duracells aren't cheap! I tried rechargeables, but the lower voltage they generate makes the camera report "low battery" almost immediately. The only way you can get any realistic use from this camera is to have it permanently plugged into the mains. Alas, there is no mains adaptor with it! Of course, you can buy one, but that adds to the cost. So, unless you'll have it plugged into the mains full time, I'm afraid this camcorder is a complete non-starter. In fact, in my view it should never have been put onto the market. If you're doing indoor work where you can keep it plugged in, or you're an electronics whizz who can make up an external battery pack, then it's marvellous value for money. SteveT
