Tacx Vortex Smart Bike Turbo Trainer and Tablet Bar Holder

Budget smart trainer

Went for a tyre on trainer because I didn’t have the budget for a direct drive trainer. I had assumed a direct drive was the only way to do smart training until I did some research and found some good reviews for the Tacx. I use it with Zwift. I can’t validate the accuracy of the power measurement but the power application when going from hills to flat and vice versa seems reasonable if not a little unrealistic. It is hard to judge an entrance to a hill in an online ride. It can feel abrupt, but this doesn’t really matter to me. ERG mode (fixed power mode) is really good for intervals and training, and the Tacx does this well. I can’t compare this to any other trainers but I like how it works on the Tacx.
