Sure-Close Kitchen Composter

Great except it requires two hands to open
The only problem I have with it is that it requires 2 hands to get the lid to stay open. I almost always have one hand holding the stuff to be composted so that requires I put it down, then open it, click the lid in an open position and then pick up the material again and dump it in. But the lid definitely keeps the gnats out (if everyone clicks it fully closed). I would recommend that they slightly trim the tab that locks the lid in the 90 degree open position so that it can be single handedly clicked into that position - right now it takes too much force which then tips over the container unless you use your second hand to stabilize it. I may try trimming the tab myself.

Dangerous product.
This product should be reported to Underwriter's Laboratory as a dangerous appliance. I received two of these The first had a fan that rubbed the cabinet and was slowed by it enough to cause it to overheat and start to smell. The replacement did not start rubbing the cabinet, but if you pressed, even lightly, any of the control switches, it immediately started rubbing. I have always liked Vornado fans for their quiet - use them all night long when sleeping on my sailboat. This product seriously makes me reconsider that. Maybe these two were counterfeit?
