Better than I remembered
My memories of this story were of an annoying Arthurian story (which I don’t think Doctor Who should be) with a silly purple (?) monster at the end. However, I was encouraged to watch the DVD special edition and I am glad I did, as it is a vast improvement. I still have issues with it, and it is far from a classic, but it is a reasonable story overall.

The very definition of a page turner
I have discovered this writer this year through a recommendation and am so glad that I did. His books grip you from the start and hold onto you throughout. I even started one in the morning and finished it the same day as I couldn’t put it down. Well worth a look.

OK, but not a classic
This is a run-of-the-mill story and the weakest of Tom Baker’s final series as The Doctor. The idea of having a cactus as a villain is intriguing, but the execution is poor, leaving an average story, at best. Much better was to come with Baker’s final two stories, but I certainly wouldn’t say to avoid this (it’s better than nearly every McCoy story - not difficult, I know!), but don’t expect great things.
