Best Surf Reel Value Available.

One of the best out of the box surf reels at any cost. They may seem pricey but the only competition they have in a stock reel are the Akios Tourno reels. There are almost no aftermarket goodies for this reel even in the tournament world because they are not needed except at the highest level. All classes of distance record were set on it. The one thing to do if you fish or cast a lot is to replace the pinion support. Less than $20.00. Buy it. Take it out of the box. Cast very far. Catch fish!

I am a professional guide and product specialist in the industry. I do not work for ABU or it's parent, Pure Fishing. The Black Max continues to be the best and most controllable baitcaster on the market for under $100.00. Most of my own reels cost considerably more but I still have two in my boat. I often buy them as gifts for novice fisherfolk because they can be tuned to cast "thumbs free". Great reel to learn on, durable, well priced and when you move up you will still use the BM as a second reel, back up or loaner.
