Intuitive experimental gadget just short of greatness
1 of 2 found this helpful Straight out of the box you can start to have great fun scannning through built-in sounds. The Step editor and the real time are intuitive and you get usable patches in seconds. Unfortunately (and this is the real bug-bear) the built in sampler is grainy, even with direct line-in, and samples sound scratchy and too quiet to be heard against the built in sounds. Which is a shame. If the sampler had a higher sample rate I really would call it an essential piece of studio equipment. As it is, it is a nice gadget to have on-the-go, on the bus or whatever, just limited to the sixteen or so on-board sounds. Fix that sampler and you will have a product that is an essential piece of equipment for any studio

Great sounds let down by poor entry sequencer
Fine line between 'absolutely amazing' and 'a bit rubbish, really' sadly it falls down on the latter side. I know your working on a budget unit and limited space and this would require specific circuitry, but it really needs a 'Step-Entry sequencer'. At the very least it doesn't even have a metronome to create new tracks and if you enter a duff note you have to erase the track and start all over again. Which is a shame really, as the sound engine itself is great - warm punchy bass sounds and those lovely shimmering melodic tones would make for a great unit with a place in any studio. Ultimately, I have spent £60 on one riff (albeit quite a nice one) but I do look forward to hearing the MKII
