My computer won't recognize it

My brand-new computer is a HP XW6400 Mini-Tower Workstation - Intel Xeon (Quad Core) 2 X Dual Core 2.33GHz CPUNEW 1TB HDD - 16GB RAM - WIFI - DVD-ROM - Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit. It refused to recognize this keyboard as well as a brand-new PS2 mouse. I don't know if it's the machine or the system. Obviously it is manufactured with the socket to fit, so I'm perplexed it doesn't accept it. I'm sure the keyboard is a fine piece of equipment but I can't use it!
