A Lifetime Tool

In an oven, for example, I cook meats with the cover on for 3/4 of the cooking cycle to steam it tender, then remove the lid for a hard brown skin. Perfect every time. Care takes some getting used to, because you need to prevent rust, but it's not that difficult - easier to keep clean, actually, than most major kitchen ware. And it's a multiple use item - even the lid can be flipped to serve as its own pan. All in all, I'm very happy with this device.

Prepares Food 30% Faster
It's true - it cuts off 30% of the cooking time for most everything, but that's just the start. I've got chicken filets dredged in egg and panko in it now, and the only oil I'm using is a light coat to keep things from sticking to the roasting pan. The air fryer will see to both a deep frying of every filet as well as a golden brown crust on the outside. It's a "super oven" - much more than I bargained for when I bought it. I've owned "pot style" air fryers in the past, but due to its size and flexibility, this Breville Air is in a class of its own. After using it for about a month now, I can attest that it's possible to keep it perfectly clean, and that process is an easy one. A prized lifetime tool - very happy with it.

Industrial strength cleaning tool put to the test
I'm super happy with this purchase - here's why. . . .
First of all, this model iRobot cleaner is intended for use in difficult environments like basements, shops and garages. On one hand, it might lack some of the electronic "finesse" of the higher priced models, but it's designed to be heavy-duty. It'll clean up sawdust from your shop saw.
At a price point less than $150, I'd thought I'd give this affordable device its day in court as a proof of concept - will this class of cleaning system suit my needs?
I put it to the test on carpeting and on bare floors. Just after relocating a large carpet from my living area to the master bedroom, it was in need of attention. Beyond the usual detritus you'd expect to find in a 6 year old piece of carpet, the iRobot Dirt Dog also had latex dust and cut carpet fibers from the installation process to contend with.
I charged the robot overnight, closed all doors, and blocked off all areas other than the newly installed carpet. The device sang it's little tune and took off in a spiral pattern. My five kitties loved it :-)
At that point, I left the house to do a few things, and when I came back, I found that the Dirt Dog had run its course, and turned itself off in the center of the room. The carpet looked great! - very much as if I had painstakingly detailed it with my monster Kirby.
The generously-sized waste bin was pretty full, and the brushes were very much in need of cleaning, mostly due to cat hair. iRobot provides a little plastic tool made for the job, and the entire restoration and cleaning to about 10-15 minutes.
The bare floors were equally challenging, if not more, because they were, well, real bare floors. This was the large living space where the huge piece of carpet had been vacated, which was down to the plywood subfloor. Once again this little bug came through, ignoring rough nails and picking up an amazing amount of detritus from a surface which I thought was relatively clean.
As a proof of concept, this model iRobot cleaning device did the job. Once I put down my hardwood and tile, as well as the remaining carpet in my 1700 square foot residence, I'll decide on the more sophisticated models I will invest in to keep these surfaces clean and washed. The Dirt Dog will take its rightful place downstairs in the wood shop.
Are there any "cons"? This model could have dealt with areas within an inch or two from the wall a bit better, but even those strips were cleaned acceptably. The rest of the carpet was beautiful. It's clear that these little robots will require attention of some kind after every cleaning, but it's unlikely that it will require the comprehensive overhaul which was necessary after my challenge.
All in all, it's a winner. I'm sold!
