Blue Sky Riders - Finally Home
If you could wear a CD out, I'd have done it by now. I've always like Kenny Loggins, so it was a no-brainer that I should try this one out. But, with three singer/songwriters collaborating, the result is amazing. This isn't a 'Kenny Loggins band'. It's a trio that has Kenny Loggins as one of its members. They all share in the music vocals, from lead vocal on various songs to shared vocals on others. The word here is 'harmonize'. Great!
As with most bands, there are some lyrics you can't understand on the recording. At their website (blueskyridersband) you can download the official lyrics, which is better than finding some lyrics written by some guy listening to the album 'guessing' what they're singing.
You get a fair amount of music for your buck, and the tracks seem to be appropriately listed. By that I mean the first and last tracks fit where they are placed; first and last on the CD. I can't describe why I feel that way. They just seem to be the best tracks to put there.
if there's any downside, it's that they are hard to pigeon-hole. This makes it difficult to find an audience; which is why I've never heard them on the radio. If anything, I'd call them 'country'; mainly for the acoustic instruments and the influence Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman have. You can hear all their influences in the music. Being familiar with Kenny, I hear his influence in many songs, but not as a rehash of things he's already done.
Their second album, "Why Not", is just as great. I listen to it almost exclusively now but fall back to Finally Home for those burned-in-the-brain songs I've memorized.
Go to Amazon and sample the tracks. You may get a taste of their music from that, but there's too much missing in the sound bites they provide. There's also YouTube. You know what to do..
It is really hard NOT to sing along with the music once you're familiar with it. I'm sure I've 'entertained' a lot of people while in my car, sitting in traffic. You ache to harmonize with them, knowing you can't even come close. But, that's the fun of it. Singing along with this album is a natural.

Quality item
Although simple in design, the graphic is crisp and definitive. No pixels or ragged edges making it look like a blowup from a smaller graphic. WYSIWYG. I'm happy with it.

Sturdy, shiny, lightweight, attractive tray.
Sturdy, shiny tray that has an attractive image in relief (of course that's based on personal taste). It is made of 'Armetale', a proprietary lightweight metal alloy that is aluminum based. Harsh dishwasher detergents and knives should be avoided to prevent dulling and scratching. It won't be damaged by hot foods. However, aluminum does transmit heat well and therefore you will feel the heat from hot foods. Obviously NOT microwave safe. The size is just right for serving a small meal such as a sandwhich and chips while at a computer desk. Great as a candy/snack dish too.
