Excellent intro to wooden sailing kits
There are many versions of Skip Jack boats and I had built one a few years back until it got turned into modern art during a move.
It is an accurate single mast Chesapeake oyster dredge sailer with a mainsail on a long boom aft of the mast and a single loose head-sail (jib) forward of the mast. The kit provides all the parts you need except fishing gear and oyster pots. It does have a nice deck cabin and wheel box.
A good kit for those who have done one wooden build. No planking needed as the hull is made of a single strake for the each hull side.
Unlike other versions no blocks are required to build up rigging . The sails can be edge sewn or white glued at the edge after cut. Centerboard and rudder are fixed in place. Masts may be trickiest part ans like many other wooden kits you have to turn them from square tor ound conical shapes. (A vari-speed drill at slow speed with sand paper wrapped at one end helps this go a little faster.)
I bought this as a gift for someone wanting try wood ships as it well designed with laser cut wood, some metal fittings, rigging line, and very clear instructions.
As simple as it appears it is an excellent kit for those wanting to do more advanced builds but still satisfying to assemble to completion. Once painted Dumas Skip Jack makes a nice show piece at a good price.

Midwest skiff is great starter for wood.
This Midwest kit is very nice beginners to moderate builders of wood ship kits ..I built one and this one from you is a father son project. It is simple but not a one day project. Shame that Midwest kits went out of business now mainly ebay. All there kits are clearly illustrated. thanks for making this available.
