Stitch pony very useful
Cheap and does the trick, easy to move around when working at different angles. Not actually worth making it myself for the low cost of buying. Supplements my much larger home-made stitch pony.

Hercules Trombone Stand, pro and con
This stand is not for all occasions, it is not for portable use as it is large and quite heavy. It is for "fixed" situations such as home/studio or stage where it is left in place for a longer period. Its "folded" size is also large and difficult for both storage and transportation. The way it hangs the instrument can be somewhat awkward and need two hands to install instrument.
Its advantages are that you can leave a mute installed in the bell and that it is very sturdy. Another plus is that I can use it with either my slide trombone or my valve trombone.
I am pleased and use it often but am thinking of getting a smaller "bell" type stand for portable use but cannot really justify two stands.

Great value and comfort with easily adjustable height
After buying a cheaper, quite uncomfortable seat I reluctantly decided to get this one. I use it for home and outside gigs playing the Euphonium/Baritone horn in a concert band. Whilst not as portable or lightweight as the other one, it is great for a two hour session. Height adjustment to accommodate the instrument on your lap while keeping a straight back and diaphragm is essential. I am very glad I decided to spend the extra few $$
