OEM Quality at a Reasonable Cost...but GE Should Have Never Offered These Knobs To Begin With
These replacement knobs are the same as the original OEM knobs from GE, and were less expensive than purchasing through GE. Seamless transaction and fast delivery, so the seller gets 5 stars.
But lets talk about GE and these low-quality knobs for a minute. These knobs are garbage. They are plastic, coated/shrink-wrapped in a metallic paper. The range they came on was not a low-end model, but a higher end GE Profile stainless steel model (rest of range is stainless steel, only knobs are plastic). If you make the mistake of leaving these knobs on when you run an oven cleaning cycle (I've never had to or thought to remove the knobs before doing this on any other oven I've owned), the metallic paper will bubble up, crack/peel, and completely ruin the "stainless look" of these cheap knobs. In addition to my own home, I own a property management business and have 4 other properties. I have been a loyal GE customer for both personal and business appliance purchases for ~20 years and have purchased more than 30 GE appliances. Other than the occasional expected service call, I had never needed to contact GE Customer Service to file a complaint or make any type of special request. In this instance, I considered the cheap knobs to be a GE quality issue, and searching online, there are MANY complaints about these exact same knobs having the exact same issue. I contacted GE "Customer Service" and was appalled by the experience. Multiple communications with the "Customer Service" representative where I politely explained the issue and requested replacement knobs, and multiple times was treated rudely and disrespectfully and told it wasn't an issue GE was familiar with. When I provided multiple online links to the issue, and links to online sales websites showing GE had provided free or discounted replacement knobs for this same issue, the rep finally said they did know about the complaints about these knobs and "did me a favor" by offering me the knobs at a discounted price that was still more than I could buy from this seller or elsewhere online. I think I've written 3 'complaint' reviews (vs. about 300 'positive' reviews) of companies in my life, and this is one. My apologies for ranting here, but with this being the way GE treats their loyal customers on such a simple issue involving their own poor quality product component that would have cost them a few dollars to fix and maintain a loyal customer, my loyalty will be going elsewhere on future purchases. Such a shame they would let their "Customer Service" get in the way of what overall I believe to be quality appliance manufacturer.
