FAIL TO DISCLOSE REQUIREMENTS FOR USE
3 of 4 found this helpful BEWARE - This de-icer has two requirements for use that are NOT disclosed before you buy.
FIRST - Instr say to use ONLY with a GFCI OUTLET -- but who has an outdoor GFCI? Not me! Older homes don't have GFCI outlets. New homes have them beside kitchen & bathroom sinks but not outside that I know of.
SECOND - Instructions say NOT to use with an extension cord -WHAT??? The cord is too short to use alone -- !!!
BUT THEN instr. says the de-icer is "approved for use ONLY with the lockndry power supply cord" which IS an EXTENSION CORD!
These "requirements for use" of the product were NOT disclosed in the product description and we DON'T APPRECIATE FINDING OUT AFTER THE PURCHASE. IT'S SNEAKY if not downright fraudulent.
ALSO - we gave 4 stars ONLY because ebay shows only the reviews they deem 'relevant' -- i.e., only the 4 or 5 star reviews. Apparently, eBay deems the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews as "not relevant" and hides them so we can't read them.
