Interesting, but corny, Hollywood re-enactment of a real life story.
This black & white movie is based on the real-life story of Pan Am flight 943, a four engine Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, which ditched in the Pacific Ocean in October, 1956 while en route from Honolulu to San Francisco, with no loss of life. This movie drama is centered on the hard-ass Captain who, like his real-life counterpart at Pan Am, is credited with saving all lives on board. In this movie, a smaller propeller-driven DC-7C experiences engine trouble during an overnight flight across the Atlantic from Lisbon to New York just past the point-of-no return. It is forced to ditch in the ocean after circling all night until daylight above a nearby Coast Guard radio ship. This is exactly how it happened in the real life drama with Pan Am. Small details were faithfully reproduced in the movie version, including the shipment of canaries in the cargo hold, which was faithfully re-created in this movie. While the acting was awful, and the whole production was obviously done on the cheap, the movie actually sticks pretty close to the real-life drama, except that in this movie the plane ditches in the Atlantic on a flight from Lisbon to New York and it's a DC-7C. In the real-life story, the Pan Am plane ditched in the Pacific and the aircraft was a Boeing B-377 Stratocruiser. It's an interesting story, but not something you need to see more than once. If you are an aviation history buff, you may like this movie, otherwise you probably won't like it at all. By the way, as a sidelight, everybody thinks Sully Sullenberger is a God because he ditched his much smaller Airbus in the Hudson River in broad daylight, surrounded by many rescuers and first responders, but the Pan Am flight, under the command of Captain Richard Ogg was much more dramatic. The Boeing Stratocruiser is a much bigger 4-engine plane. The real drama unfolded during the night and ended at sunrise when the ditching could be safely accomplished next to the Coast Guard radio ship. The real Pan Am story can be found in detail on the internet, and it's much more exciting with a lot more drama.
6 Sycees Auto Sensor LED Night Light Plug in with Offset Prongs Wall Lamp White

    LED night lights
These little lights are the perfect night light. They come in packages of 4 or 6, just the right number for your home or apartment. They are inexpensive to buy and cost almost nothing to operate all night every night. Plug them in and forget them. They do their thing automatically every night. They turn on and off automatically at dusk and dawn and require no maintenance. They have a life expectancy of about 50,000 hours so they will probably outlive you...ha ha! They give off a soft, low level nighttime light that's perfect for hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, children's rooms, even in the garage. I got the white ones, but they come in different colors so you can choose the color of the light you like best....white, blue, soft yellow, etc. Although the picture does not show it clearly, the plug prongs are offset....a great design touch....so when they are plugged in to your wall socket they only occupy one slot so you can still plug in something else in the other socket. How clever is that? Yes, I highly recommend these beautifully designed little lights for your home, apartment, or business. After purchasing my first 6-pack, I purchased several more for other family members so they could put them in their homes, too. And they all love these little lights.
