My son loves his new MacBook
5 of 5 found this helpful My 12 year old was ready for his first laptop, and I did not want to spend a lot of $ on a new (or even slightly used) modern era MacBook, nor settle for a cheaper netbook/Chromebook machine -- we are a mainly Apple family :) This ended up being the ideal purchase, after getting over the initial disappointment of it being 'used' and white, he quickly realized it is a very capable machine and is very happy with the computer, it is fine for modern applications and even a lot of games run well -- it is great that it has a a brand new version of MacOS installed and it powers up like a brand new machine. I since discovered that the DRAM can be upgraded from 4GB to 8GB and have ordered the upgrade for ~$70 -- this will ensure that he can multi-task successfully as well! Assuming the machine holds up well, we'll look into an SSD later -- so far it is running fine with the included 500GB drive. He has ordered a thin skin case for it as well for ~$15 and his machine is now blue and he is 100% happy!
