Common sense philosophy
William Irvine is an excellent writer, clear and engaging. He is clearly fascinated by his subject,and writes persuasively about the ancient Stoic philosophy and how it is still relevant thousands of years later. I defy anyone to read through this book and not make even a small change to their life. I read it as a library book, but bought my own copy as I anticipate wanting to read this again and again when I need inspiration. If you are looking to bring more calm and order to your life, both inner and outer, I highly recommend this book. Never preachy, just practical and sensible. The similarities between Stoicism and Buddhism were surprising.
