2011 MacBook Pro fills the bill
The computer allowed me to restore from Time Machine backup with all my files and OS X Version10.9.5 operating system -- excellent! As a result, I have been able to continue to use a $500 obsolete app.
And once my son showed me that some of the screws for the computer case were hidden under the texture decal, I was able to upgrade to 16 GB RAM.
Turned out the processor was slightly newer than my original 2011 MBP, but that worked out well with better throughput and speed for several applications.

Serviceable extension chord
