Good HD. Limited recording ability.
Other receivers have been criticised for the HD not being the real thing. This is the first time I have had HD and it is like I see in the showrooms.
A reminder can be set for any programme on the guide (up to 7 or 8 days in advance), however not so for recording. You must be watching the station and, as the programme starts, you press to start recording and at the end you press to stop. So you cannot record when out. This is not a fault, but is as described in the manual. Hence only 3 stars.
Recording medium is memory stick. It does not accept an external hard drive.
The manual does not specify the file types, but I have found that it will play videos in ".mpg" format at least, and that it records in ".ts" format.

Pleased with this
The bristles are certainly not nylon, but I am not able to say whether they are otherwise synthetic or what sort of natural material. It does the job nicely as long as it is soaked in warm soapy water before first use to soften it. Handle part is good. Pleasant to use. The handle is surely not ebony - I wouldn't want that - but plastic.

Quality case
Pleasing to handle. Tablet clips in as a perfect fit and is held firmly. Stands well in the 3 positions as claimed (2 landscape, 1 portrait). Power button, volume control, camera and top connections can be used OK. The tablet must be removed from the case to access the micro-SD slot (rare I would think). When not using it as a stand, the front may be folded right back behind. I do not usually use the elastic band but I like it. I would prefer not to have a maker's logo, but on my black version it is barely noticable.
