e5-1603v3
6 of 7 found this helpful This is the left over garbage after binning. Anyone who owns or buys this chip either is or will be extremely disappointed. The E5-1603v3 is multiplier locked unlike the e5-1650v3, e5-1660v3 and the e51680v3 that all have their multipliers un-locked.
This chip is practically worthless compared to the other 72 CPUs made for the LGA2011v3 and now LGA2011v4 socket. It has the QPI links burnt out, it does not support hyper threading so its 4 cores with 4 threads and hangs on every 4 core application I have ever run it on.
This particular CPU DOES NOT support Turbo Boost like 68 of the other 72 CPUs made for this socket so it will never run past stated stock speed regardless of weather the architecture can handle it. The worst thing about this chip is the memory controller, the memory controller must have been a after thought because for a chip that supports DDR4 only up to 1866Mhz is kinda disappointing to EVERYONE building a system with DDR4. Even DDR4 2133Mhz is beyond the capabilities of this chip, I tried for days manually adjusting voltages and other settings trying to get the DDR4 2133Mhz ram to work.
Tried a little overclocking through the backstrap just trying to reach 2.9Ghz and failed no matter what I did. Wouldn't boot most the time and when it did it just crashed as soon as you opened any application.
The original MSRP was $202.00 but that was long before the Broadwell-E came out and the new 14nm architecture is MSRPing for the same price of the 22nm.
Save yourself a headache and avoid buying this piece of garbage.

Junk item
This thing is garbage, cheap Chinese manufacturing at its worst. Wont keep time. The buttons don't even have to be pressed for all the settings to be all screwed up. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.
