No other laptop competes in this class.
No other 14" laptop comes with a high-res 1600x900 display. Not only that, but this is the best display on the market. Amazing color and black levels. Fantastic specs on the Envy 14 WHILE maintaining decent to good battery life. The optional slice battery you can add for even more life makes it the perfect laptop. Unfortunately, as of 9/28/2010 HP has discontinued the high-res 1600x900 Radiance display, but if that doesn't matter very much to you, I still recommend the Envy 14 with the 1366x768 BrightView screen.

Loud but effective
I’m giving it 3 stars instead of less because it works well enough that I won’t return it. Despite reviews I read it is a lot louder than the maximum fan speed on my laptop. It also has no fan speed control. It goes zero to hero. I do like the adjustability of the stand height however. Build is kind of flimsy but it is pretty cheap so I expected that!
