Ridiculous value for money
Having converted to mirrorless a few years ago (mainly Fuji & now Panasonic FF) I did start to miss parts of the DSLR experience. I had held on to a 50mm lens from my old Nikon kit in case I bought another one day. I picked up my D3 with 170k shots for £350 - that's pocket camera money! Great condition pro-spec camera with plenty of life left in it. It won't go everywhere with me like my smaller mirrorless cameras but when you want to get out just to take pictures it's a really rewarding experience. Great build and handling, brilliant autofocus, really nice optical viewfinder, a battery that lasts for thousands of shots (what a refreshing change!), a portrait grip etc etc.
This is an absolute steal if you are just into making pictures. It's 12MP but I'm constantly amazed at how many photographers think they need high resolution - unless you are making huge prints or cannot frame your pictures properly so need to crop heavily - it's just slightly pointless. I have numerous A3 (and even some A2) prints from a 6MP sensor which are perfectly presented. Do we also need modern niceties like eye detection and animal detection? Is it not just making us lazy photographers?
This D3 is a photographic tool that produces some stunning images - and the user experience is spot on. Even if you are just curious it's worth buying one!
