AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

This seems a well made and robust item and provides an enormous amount of storage space for the price. As for reliability I haven't yet owned it long enough to make a judgement, but all ok so far. The downside of such an inexpensive item - and let's face it £10 for half a terabyte is extraordinarily cheap - is that data transfer rates are slow, very slow. This isn't an issue if you're backing up a handful of documents or a modest number of jpegs, but if like me, you're copying 100Gb of RAW image files it will take quite some time; we're talking potentially an hour or more. But if time isn't a major issue it's a great buy, provided of course, that all important reliability is maintained over time. Fingers crossed. WARNING: UPDATE AFTER 6 MONTHS AND VERY LIGHT USE. It's died. Unreadable and unformattable. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Caveat Emptor.

So far so good

A remarkably well priced option for Mac owners like me whose computers lack a DVD drive. Handshake was flawless and read and right speeds reasonable under USB 3.0 All good so far with admittedly only relatively light use. It's sleek, well built and looks good on the desktop.
