Romantic and Exciting!
This story takes place in 1600's New England - a unique time and setting for a historical romance. It features a love triangle - a Pilgrim woman and the two men in her life - the son of a wealthy magistrate, and an Abenaki warrior. What I enjoyed most about this author was the way she makes you feel what everyone in the book is feeling and thinking - not just the main character. The descriptions made me feel as if I were right there, personally experiencing each step of the drama myself. What I also enjoyed was the fact that the main character, Rosalind, was not a super-hero type of woman - she was naïve, vulnerable and prone to tears - not single-handedly trying to conquer the world, as the women in most romance novels are. I also have read the two sequels to this book and they were even more exciting than the first! Not a dull or boring moment in any of them! I truly enjoyed this saga, from beginning to end.
