Problem with the screen brightness

Right out of the box there's a problem with the screen brightness. Even at full brightness with every battery saving feature turned off, the screen is very very dim. I bought this and a HP desktop at the same time and the HP is more than twice as bright. I then compared it to my older Lenovo and older Acer, and it's the same issue. I am hoping this is just a fluke with this machine and will be returning it.
