Gunk Ultra engine degreaser
12 of 12 found this helpful I have bought Gunk products in the past and found them to be excellent. however this version of gunk's engine degreaser did not live up to its past reputation, it did not dissolve the grease and oil around the engine bay with ease, and took repeated applications to finally achieve a satisfactory result, this meant I had to use much more of the product, it seems to lack solvent properties to loosen caked on deposits and appears to work in much the same way as a washing up liquid, I would suggest it is excellent if used to wash the bodywork of a car, but to use it as an "ultra" engine degreaser is stretching its capabilities, I applied it neat with a stiff brush, then left it for 40 mins then used a pressure washer, it took 3 applications to finally get it fairly clean, sorry Gunk, but I had to use almost both 5ltr packs to get one engine degreased.

From a fitters viewpoint
I bought the item, knowing I was going to install it personally, it arrived quickly (always good in my book) as the longer it took to arrive, the longer my car would be off the road, fitting was also quite straight forward too and the quality of the item was excellent, if I had a criticism, it would be that it does not come with the rubber dust cover, which protects the damper piston from road debris, dust and mud. to me, this is an integral part of the strut itself..and to be honest, why buy a new strut and then be expected fit a used and possibly damaged dust cover? mine was damaged, so I had to delay fitting my new part until I sourced a dust cover, had this item been included I would have given the review that final fifth star.
