Nice model, Quality Assurance not thorough from manufacturer
All in all this is a very nice-looking, good running model that looks great on my layout. There were a couple of flaws, however, that quality assurance should have flagged before it got boxed up. The road number on the front is upside-down, and the volume control in the tender doesn't work (the sound is on all the time at a constant volume). It runs good, smoke is decent but I rarely use that. The coupler on the tender I have issues with connecting to my railcars (I use Kadees, this has some MTH specific coupler). I could just need to get familiar with the MTH coupler, it almost appears as if it can be controlled from the DCC controller, but I still need to research it.
Like I said, all in all it's a good model and I plan on keeping it. The volume control knob might just be loose, so I'll open it up and see. For the price, I'd be happy having this just as a display model, it looks fantastic.

Great locomotive!
I knew someone who had one of these Rapido locomotives and they said it has been a joy to operate. After receiving this I immediately put it to work on my layout, and I wholeheartedly agree it's a joy to operate! The sounds are great, the momentum presets are great right out of the box, and the details are impressive. The factory installed knuckle couplers work with all my rolling stock, and it can pull really well. All in all I highly recommend this locomotive, and I intend to explore more of what Rapido has to offer.
