Nelson Designer Series NKJV Bible
For the price this is a great personal sized reference Bible. It's a bare bones text, so don't expect a lot of extras. I have so many commentaries and computer programs, that this Bible would still be fine for a reference Bible or relaxed reading. If you need an in-depth study Bible, then you'll probably want to look elsewhere. This Bible has a simple concordance that's practically useless. The cover is soft and beautifully designed. The gold gilded edges add further to the Bible's attractiveness. The paper is a bit thin and I don't mean like normal Bible onion paper. It's so think that you can see through it and see letters on the other side. This is probably the worst thing about it, but it doesn't hinder your ability to read it. The text size is large but not so big that it looks gaudy. It's very easy on the eyes!
I like the NKJV translation. It has a nice balance between "word for word," and "dynamic," translations. It's also in a modern version of English for easy readability. It can sound more "wooden" or dull in some places, especially in the Old Testament when compared to the NIV and other modern translations. I personally believe it to be a more accurate version after years and years of studies. I like the fact that a lot of the KJV language was kept in order to enhance the poetic beauty of the language. There's a lot of controversy and disagreement nowadays over what ancient manuscripts to use for the New Testament. This is one of the only ones to still use the Textus Receptus which the first English Bibles used. The debate over this is too complex to even sum up here, but the NKJV does give the alternate readings and lists the original manuscripts as footnotes. The others modern English Bibles don't do this at all and frequently pretend like the Textus Receptus doesn't exist in spite of it's long history as the prime text used for English Bibles. The differences are minor really and no major doctrines will be changed by using one or the other, but I like that this Bible gives readers all information available.
For the price, this is a great quality reference Bible.

Radar Men From The Moon
Radar Men From The Moon is one of those classic old cliff hanger movie serials. You'll notice a lot of things about this film that obviously inspired other "rocket man" science fiction films. There are also a few things that you can't help but to think George Lucas had in mind while making the Star Wars prequels. He has said on numerous occasions that he was a big fan of old movie serials.
This movie isn't for everyone. I like it for sentimental and nostalgic reasons. The "science," certainly doesn't stand up so well with people living on the moon and references to the moon's atmosphere. If you loved this as a kid, there's a lot of fun to be had by watching it again. If you just like old campy movies, then this film is good for a lot of laughs! It's one of those films that was good by it's days standards, but is enjoyable now because it's funny in ways that weren't intended to be funny. It's a great watch for some old fashioned black and white science fiction fun!
