1 of 1 found this helpful This aligns your die perfectly with the muzzle (although it helps if you have trued the barrel at the muzzle) and permits an accurate die cut into the barrel steel. This tool makes an otherwise very tricky job (cutting an accurate thread on a rifle-barrel's muzzle) a pleasure to undertake and complete. I would go so far as to state that no armorer's tool kit (or gunsmith's) is complete without this tool to attend the correct die. One common-sense caution though: make certain to lube the tool so that you do not scour the inside of the muzzle or rifling.
