A good burr grinder is more expensive for a reason
6 of 6 found this helpful Before buying this grinder, make sure it is for you. Burr grinders are expensive for a reason, and the budget price on this one is telling. If you are a person who makes drip coffee every day and you are looking for an easy way to have fresh ground beans for your daily pot, this is a great solution. This grinds more evenly than a blade grinder, and you can even set it for the number of coffee cups you brew, so it's a relatively hands-off process.
However, if you prefer brewing methods that require a consistent grind size, such as pourover, this probably isn't the best choice. While the grind size is more even than that produced by a blade grinder, it's not on par with that produced by a higher quality burr grinder. Additionally, it's designed to hold a full hopper of beans. If you typically measure your beans and then grind, you'll find that it has trouble getting through those last few beans as they bounce around the chamber rather than getting ground.
Like most people, I was looking for a bargain when I bought this grinder. While it works fine for certain purposes, it doesn't do exactly what I hoped it would.
