A game that was ahead of its time on many levels.
Out of this World for the SNES a early console action/adventure game. This was one of my favorite games growing up. The game has its origin on the PC and was pretty much created by one man Eric Chahi. He did the Design,Programing, Sound and Artwork for the game. It was the first game to included cinematic cutscenes and in 1992 they were amazing. In the game you play the role of the Ferrari driving nuclear scientist Lester Knight Chaykin. Lester is transported to "Another World" (the orginal European name of the game) Thanks to a freak lighting strike on Lesters particle acceleration experiment. In a flash you and large portion of the room are transported away to a hostile planet trying to kill you from second one. If you have not played this game before you will likely die in the first few seconds of play, dragged to a watery grave. If you manage to survive and escape the pool simply lingering around to long can get you killed again. This game is unforgiving in that regard. You will die a lot but figuring out how to survive is really satisfying. Its a lot of trial and error but you are always treated to rather different and creative cutscene deaths or animations. This game was ahead of its time on so many levels. Even the ending was untypical of games even today yet alone back in the early 1990s it was ground breaking in my opinion. I sadly never owned this game growing up just rented it a bunch of times back when VHS rental stores existed. But finding a Copy of Ebay still in the original box with instructions and game all in superb condition just made me dust off me SNES and relive the glory SNES days
