About
I've been tinkering with computers and electronics for 30 years now. I figured it was time to put my skills to use and start selling the kinds of things I'd like to see on eBay. I put an emphasis on customer service and fast shipping.

Best value available in a wireless router
1 of 1 found this helpful If you want the power and flexibility of DD-WRT and don't need 5GHz support, USB, or heavy P2P throughput, this is the only router worth considering. They are available very cheaply and offer bullet-proof reliability. This is also the device I grab when I need a simple ethernet/wireless client (such as for a game console or streaming device) or stand-alone access point. The B1 revision is the the best option as it includes 8MB of flash storage rather than the 4MB of the other versions and that extra space is very useful to have with DD-WRT.
Doing an initial flash on ASUS routers is not quite as simple as it could be but the wiki entry for the RT-N12 on DD-WRT.com is more than clear enough to make set up easy enough for those with less-developed networking skills. Just read through all the information carefully before starting and take your time and it will all be pretty painless. Even if everything goes wrong and the router is bricked, recovery is easier than any other series of routers I've used (but still not exactly for the technically challenged).

Interesting, if a little flawed
It does rotate 180 around the connector, as the rounded housing would imply. The center port, however, only rotates 90°, not 180° as the description states. The fourth port is on the end away from the plug. There is no external power connection so it is only suitable for use with low power or self-powered devices. The build quality isn't anything to write home about, either, but not unacceptable for a $5 part. All in all, an interesting little hub.
The only problem I encountered in using it was that the hub dropped down into USB 1.1 mode (11 Mbit/s) when I plugged my keyboard, mouse, and fingerprint reader into it, bringing my superspeed USB thumb drive to a 1 MB/s crawl. My other USB 2.0 hubs do not act like this so it is specific to this hub. It seems the USB chip in this device is not completely 2.0 compliant but it isn't that hard to work around this shortcoming (I just used a different host port for those devices).

Extremely high quality
I had used an adhesive Qi pad placed inside my original cover but it caused the cover to bulge and develop hairline cracks over the period of a couple of years. The OEM integrated Qi cover fits better, looks better, and works better. Too bad they were so much more expensive when I first bought my SGS4.
