Beautiful range top. Griddle clean up is quick. Great simmer. IMO Viking & Monogram make the best range tops but I prefer the looks of Viking.
In my experience with range tops Viking is probably the most reliable brand and Wolf and Monogram are also good and I’ve heard great things about Blue Star (but no personal experience with Blue Star). Dacor and Thermador are terrible!!!
Of these 3 “best” brands that I regularly see I prefer the looks of Viking. Wolf probably has the best overall performance out of the box but their newer burners are cheap aluminum against cheap aluminum for the simmer so they are very prone to a clogged simmer since sub-zero bought Wolf out approximately... Viking has had reliably fail safe burners for 30+ years and Viking’s stainless knobs don’t fall off like some Wolf knobs (such as with newer Wolf griddle knobs in some years).
Looks wise I prefer the round knob trim Viking did on their prior generation over the ugly square knob trim they are currently doing.
Viking is the best looking brand by my preference, the easiest brand to fix, easiest to take apart, and the only top brand with reliable burners at a simmer. Viking’s burner switches can eventually wear out, but that could be said of any brand.
Thermador’s simmer is a joke! It is more like the low or Medium of other brands, so the only way they can kind of compete in terms of stats. is by on/off cycling their “simmer” (which means listening to sparking all the time and it also means more unburned gas in the air). Dacor is just garbage even on their newest 2019 stuff and Dacor never has been reliable for gas cooking... in my experience defective spark modules and switches is the norm for Dacor even right out of the box at times! Dacor is total crap and you’d be better off buying something at Lowe’s or HD!
