With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa
    Feb 20, 2019
A written brother to "Saving Private Ryan", but even grittier.
Very well written first-person account that allows us to approach an understanding of just how horrific the combat experience was, I think particularly in the pacific front lines. Every man there, and equally in the North African/European theater, was a bona fide HERO for simply not turning around and running like hell.
World at Arms : A Global History of World War II-E

Very detailed, and simply the BEST single history.
Without question, this is the best history of the war. Not a march from battle to battle but a detailed examination of the underpining for the decisions and results of those battles, and the consequences. Just "WOW", but most definitely not for the casual interest.
Understanding the Universe : From Quarks to the Cosmos by Don Lincoln
    Aug 11, 2019
A great read to understand difficult realities.
Don Lincoln has an extreme ability to distill complex ideas into understandable reality, without 'dumbing down'. And his obvious command of both English and 'writing' make him a joy to read. Mine is only the 2010 edition, (I'm a cheap bargain hunter) but is probably pushing me to 'invest' in the latest one. Just GREAT !
