Cool Hand G10 Grips, Sunburst pattern, for Beretta 92/96 - the Good, the Bad and the Ugly
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this set of grips to install on my Beretta 92FS Inox pistol, replacing the original texture rubber grips. I have experience with other G10 grips, including VZ Grips, Stoner CNC, Hogue, and Wilson Combat (made by VZ). I have not tried any LOK grips, or Beretta branded G10 grips (also made by VZ). This is my first set of grips from this manufacturer.
I really like the appearance of the Coyote color against the frame and slide. Cool Hand is apparently the only manufacturer that uses three separate, sufficiently saturated colors in the G10 material. You can distinctly see black, tan and gray. The black looks good because of the black trigger, hammer, slide release lever and safety/decocker switch, while the gray looks good against the stainless slide and matte aluminum color of the frame. The tan provides an complementing natural color to give your pistol some good character. These grips are beautiful. Just look at them - they look like a bird's wing.
The fit is perfect. No unwanted gaps, no binding on the trigger bar, etc. The grips match the curvature of the frame's grip without exception. The grips extend to within .5mm of the bottom of the magwell. The magazine release button relief cut is not generous though. They are perfectly fine for the factory magazine release button, though. The cutouts don't provide enough clearance for using Wilson Combat's oversize release button. Be prepared to use a round file to carefully enlarge the cutout.
That's where the love ends. The grips are fairly polished. Not to the extent that it produces a reflecting glare when light hits it, but enough that the grips are fairly slick. They are far from grippy. The polish makes the colors come alive, but it comes at the expense of grip friction. Now imagine using your pistol with sweaty hands - the grips can become slippery. And to make it worse, the texture lines milled into them where your thumb contacts them run in the very direction you don't want. This makes them really ineffective for establishing a positive purchase onto them. Your thumb will want to slide along the channels milled into the grip.
As you can see, I rated the product as "Good", and I even recommend them. But it does depend on your use. If you're a casual plinker or are looking for some outstandingly beautiful grips for your Beretta safe queen then these grips are a really great option. But if you compete in IDPA then I'd definitely recommend you avoid these grips.
The seller has a good return policy, but I'm going to keep these. I might even buy a second set, but in a different pattern.

Effortless loading and rapid unloading
This is an amazing product. I can quickly and easily load cartridges into my AR magazines without wearing out my thumbs, and I can just as easily unload cartridges from my magazines if I need to. Such a simple design that does an important and otherwise time consuming function. I won't go back to manual methods.

Yes, it works... albeit slowly.
I have misgivings about this automatic ice maker. It yields less than half the ice production of the 21-year-old ice maker in my old Maytag refrigerator/freezer, at the same 12° F. The problem is not the rate at which the water freezes inside it, but rather how long the unit takes before the unit ejects ice into the bucket and refills with fresh water. There is nothing to adjust. Recommendation and value responses are pointless, as buyers have the limited choice of installing this or simply using ice trays. A single ice tray, while slightly less convenient, can produce much more ice in the same amount of time, versus this automatic ice maker.
