Not columbo and Quincy
Engaging and dramatic episodes of murder investigations punctuated by well crafted character development. Female Detective Rizzoli and ,Chief Medical Examiner Isles work together to solve puzzling criminal cases in Boston, The series begins slowly by showcasing the relationship between these two charming and powerful women. The crimes investigated by the two ladies over the first season are increasingly complex and compelling such that I wanted to know what might happen in the next season. To the credit of the writers the script is anything but predictable. For fans of the series Major Crimes', Chief Brenda Johnson, this series is different because the lead characters each have a fully functioning moral compass. Some of Rizzoli's tom-girl behaviors are polar opposite to Isles' high fashion sensibilities and the contrast becomes a souse of amusement in these otherwise gripping episodes. I'm glad I made the purchase because its good to see all the episodes in chronological order and without commercials. I really like using the feature of English subtitles and being able to rerun a scene to catch some of the action that I didn't quite understand. I will say that I initially made the purchase as a gift to my wife but now that I'm addicted I expect to get the next seasons as they come available.
